Handmade by Artisans - Three for Thursday

Two weeks have come and gone . . . and here it is time again for another Three for Thursday blog post.  Three for Thursday posts feature three handmade items from three artists. If you look back at previous posts, you will see that the items chosen celebrate a wide variety of artistic skill.  That includes the artists you’ll find this week: eye catching manga and dog figurines by Sam of Shinrin Studio; colorful crocheted accessories and plushies by Michele of Starrfish Studio; and, fun dog themed beauties from Donna of SewAmazin (my dog, Seamus, has several of Donna's dog bandanas - he looks VERY handsome in them!).

COLORS! - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

I love this quote by the artist Edvard Munch:  “The colors live a remarkable life of their own after they have been applied to the canvas.”  I can’t imagine life without colors, from the bold and brilliant to the soft and subdued. The magnificence of a field of wildflowers would be lost, along with a blazing sunset and the colors of a hummingbird and a Renoir painting.  I truly feel sorry for people who can only see a small amount of color . . . or none at all.

The theme of this week’s Wonderful andmade Wednesday on Indiemade blog is “COLORS!”  The beautiful colors used to create the artisan handmade pieces shown below definitely have a life of their own after they were worked into the design.  Enjoy!

Happy St Patricks Day! - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

Due to my mother's side of the family, quite a lot of Scots-Irish blood flows through my veins, being a MacLellan and an O'Birney.  I grew up listening to old Irish ballads by John McCormack and others and also to Scottish bagpipe music.  I thrilled to the legends of Brian Boru, the Fenian Cycle and others - and also to the lifes of Irish saints (although those weren't quite as exciting).  When St. Patrick's Day rolls around, I find myself going though my CDs of Irish folk songs, popping one into my computer and singing along (probably much to the chagrin of Seamus - am surprised he doesn't howl along!).  In honor of the upcoming St. Patrick's Day, I also wanted to share handmade items from talented artist friends that use green as all or part if the design.

Second Page, Third Artisan Item - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

First of all, I want to wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous NEW YEAR.  It’s hard to believe that 2018 is already here.  Wow, it seems like 2017 just flew by on supersonic wings . . .

I also want to welcome you to my first blog for 2018, the first of many more for the year.  This first post features artisan handmade items from Indiemade friends.  I randomly chose the theme as “Second Page, Third Item,” so, as of yesterday (when I chose the items), each pick is the third item on the second page in the shops featured.  As you can see, a wide variety of items are highlighted.  If something catches your eye and you want more information, please be sure to either click the photo or the link below each photo to be taken to the item.  Enjoy!

New Handmade Earrings and Necklaces by Shadow Dog Designs

It has been several months since I last shared a blog of my newest handmade jewelry.  Between participating in art shows, traveling, my birthday, our anniversary, other commitments and trying to stock my Indiemade shop for the Christmas buying season, the time just sped right on by.  Seems time goes quicker and quicker each and every year!  Whew!  Anyway, I finally pulled together this post to share of my newest earrings and necklaces, six of each.  They are all one of a kind pieces and handmade from the heart.  If a piece catches your eye, please click on the photo or the live link below the photo to be taken to the item for more information and pictures.  I hope you enjoy the beauties below:

Second Category, Third Item - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

The Franciscan Festival of Fine Arts at the Holy Cross Retreat Center is this Labor Day weekend, Saturday and Sunday.  The Retreat Center has been operational for 60 years. However, some of the buildings in the compound are over 100 years old. It's so peaceful there and feels like you step back in time, especially when you see Father Tom walking around in his full cassock with a large, wooden rosary tied around his waist, chatting with as many people as he can. The juried festival itself has been held yearly for almost 20 years and is a “go to” festival for local people and the many who might drive from Tucson, Albuquerque or beyond to buy beautiful artisan handcrafted items.  If you are in the Las Cruces, NM or El Paso, TX area, please stop by - I will be selling my jewelry there.  For more information, here is a link:  Franciscan Festival of Fine Arts.

Relaxing Blues and Teals - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

Blues and teals are relaxing colors, both mentally and physically.  In color psychology, the colors control and heal the emotions, creating emotional balance and stability.  Worldwide, the color blue is the favorite color, a color that is seen as reliable and responsible.  Teal, a hue that is halfway between blue and green, is seen as happy and friendly, and is the most common color requested by photographers for logo designs.

Shadow Dog Designs - New Handmade Jewelry

The past two weeks have been very busy . . . not so much with making new jewelry and listing new pieces . . . but with life itself.  It seems I find myself coming and going at the same time.  Thank heavens for yoga classes and the bits and pieces of meditation I can do.  They definitely help center my life, to look at what life throws my way with empathy, caring and a sense of humor (or at least I hope!).
