Make It an Artisan Handmade Christmas - Favorites - Week 9, 2023

Christmas is barreling down on us like a runaway freight train!  It will be here very soon.  Week 9 of the Countdown to Christmas 2023 has come and gone and the ever ticking Your Christmas Countdown Clock doesn’t let up.  According to what the clock says today, Santa and his traveling buddies will start their journey in only 32 days, just a bit over four weeks from now!  The Countdown is a place for handmade artists to come together and share three of their beautiful (often one of a kind) creations and then promote each other.  This week, eleven artists shared a total of 33 unique items.  The twelve week Countdown to Christmas, hosted by Julie and Harry of Blue Morning Expressions on their Buy Handmade from Makers blogis the perfect place to start / end to your Christmas shopping - find those special gifts for a loved one!  An excellent motto to follow this holiday season is : SHOP EARLY, SHOP OFTEN!  And, most of all, SHOP HANDMADE to support hardworking indie shop owners!

In addition to promoting each handmade item from the Countdown collection to my "Countdown to a Handmade Christmas 2023" Pinterest board and on my Twitter feed, I decided to share one item from each of the artists who participated this week.  Here are my "favorites" picks of the items, in an order determined by drawing numbers from my trusty numbers bowl.  I hope you enjoy these unique items!

Eleven New Necklaces and Earrings Handmade by Shadow Dog Designs

It has been quite a while since I shared new jewelry designs found in my SHADOW DOG DESIGNS shop.  It seems the days . . . and the weeks . . . . and the months just speed right on by.  I've been spending a LOT of time outside working in flower beds and just sitting and enjoying all the birds and other animals that come to the back yard.  And watching Seamus be his goofy dog self.  The weather has been absolutely gorgeous so the pull to be outside is greater than the pull to be in front of the computer.  Today I'm sharing eleven new designs in my shop, all one of a kind jewelry.  As you can see there is a wide range of desgins:  some simple and some more comlicated, some small and some big and bold.   And there are several new animal rescue designs which, when sold, one-half of the purchase price goes to an animal recue organization.  I hope you enjoy these pieces.  And be sure to visit my shop to see other unique jewelry:  SHADOW DOG DESIGNS.

New Handmade Earrings - Jewelry by Shadow Dog Designs

It has been a good while since I shared new jewelry here on my blog.  So I decided to remedy that now!  It seems I have been working more on earrings lately than necklaces.  Not sure why.  The one necklace I make and list  sold almost immediately.  Maybe I should make more necklaces!  Anyway, shared here are the newest bakers's dozen handmade earrings in my Shadow Dog Designs jewelry shop.

Delicate Easter Colors - Artisan Handmade Three for Thursday

Easter is a symbol of hope, renewal, and new life.

Janine di Giovanni

Since yesterday was Ash Wednesday - and Easter is approximately six weeks away - I started thinking about Easters past, always large gatherings of family and friends.  But, before everyone showed up at our house, we went to Easter Sunrise mass, the only time my father was ever cajoled into going to church. As a child, I always remember getting a new Easter dress, usually with a matching headband, socks and gloves(!) to wear to church on Easter Sunday.  And if my sister and I were lucky, a small purse would be included. Very stylish, indeed, and usually VERY itchy! The clothes were always spring pastel in color: pinks, pale yellows, pale greens, pale blues and such. A preview of all the pastel colored Easter eggs that were waiting to be found!

This week’s Three for Thursday features three items from three handmade artists that definitely are filled with the renewal of Easter springtime colors.  The artists are: jewelry artist Mary of PrettyGonzo; crochet artist Pamela of MagdaleneKnits; and, me, Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, also a jewelry artist.  I hope you enjoy my choices. And be sure to visit the artists’ shops for more splendiferous designs!
