Three for Thursday - Artisan Handmade

As I was toying around with the idea for a new set of blog posts, Three for Thursday became an “Aha!” moment.  My plan is to feature three items from three handmade artists in each post, hopefully at least twice a month.  The items will be wide ranging from a variety of materials, most, but not all, one of a kind beauties.  In this inaugural post, the artists I have chosen are:  Mary of PrettyGonzo; Jacki of Christie Cottage; and me, Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs.  If something catches your eye, please be sure to click on the photo or the link below the picture to be taken to the item for more photos and information.  I hope you enjoy the unique artisan handmade items featured below:

Valentines Day at Shadow Dog Designs - Handmade Jewelry

Since Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, I decided to share some handmade Valentine’s inspired jewelry from my Shadow Dog Designs studio.  Most are red and/or pink in color - but not all - and some have hearts.  But most are not your “traditional” Valentine’s earrings or necklaces; they are more geared for the woman who loves unique designs with a boho falir.  The one of a kind pieces can be comfortably worn long after this year’s Valentine’s Day is past.  But what a perfect gift any of the handmade jewelry featured below will make . . . long after the day itself is a fond memory!

Red for Valentine's Day! Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

Valentine’s Day will soon be here, so I thought I’d share some mainly red handmade items from talented Indiemade artists.  Now these items were purposely chosen to not be overly “Valentines” - no heart designs here!  Just wonderful designs that primarily deal in many shades of red, from deep reds to vibrant reds.  So these beauties obviously can be worn most any time of the year.

Second Page, Third Artisan Item - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

First of all, I want to wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous NEW YEAR.  It’s hard to believe that 2018 is already here.  Wow, it seems like 2017 just flew by on supersonic wings . . .

I also want to welcome you to my first blog for 2018, the first of many more for the year.  This first post features artisan handmade items from Indiemade friends.  I randomly chose the theme as “Second Page, Third Item,” so, as of yesterday (when I chose the items), each pick is the third item on the second page in the shops featured.  As you can see, a wide variety of items are highlighted.  If something catches your eye and you want more information, please be sure to either click the photo or the link below each photo to be taken to the item.  Enjoy!

New Handmade Earrings and Necklaces by Shadow Dog Designs

It has been several months since I last shared a blog of my newest handmade jewelry.  Between participating in art shows, traveling, my birthday, our anniversary, other commitments and trying to stock my Indiemade shop for the Christmas buying season, the time just sped right on by.  Seems time goes quicker and quicker each and every year!  Whew!  Anyway, I finally pulled together this post to share of my newest earrings and necklaces, six of each.  They are all one of a kind pieces and handmade from the heart.  If a piece catches your eye, please click on the photo or the live link below the photo to be taken to the item for more information and pictures.  I hope you enjoy the beauties below:

Christmas Green - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

Green and red are colors that have been closely associated with Christmas for centuries..  Last week I shared how red became a Christmas color.  You can read that post here:  Christmas Red.  This week, green, the other Christmas color, is explored mainly through the symbolism of holly, mistletoe and evergreen trees.

Bohemian Rhapsody - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

It’s amazing how often my blogs are inspired by music.  As you have probably noticed, music is, and always has been, a huge part of my life.  For some reason, I have been listening quite a bit to the complete soundtrack to the Lord of the Rings movies.  Heroic music for an awesome trilogy!  It ended (for the umpteenth time) and I switched to my Pandora station.  And . . . Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen started the mix of music.  The song, which was released in 1975, instantly took me back to a time at university when several friends and I developed a Bohemian Rhapsody skit . . . and performed it at a university talent show!  Am sure the skit was absolutely, undeniably horrible.  But whenever I hear the song, it takes me back to all the hard work and laughter as we pulled the antics of the skit together.  Am sure there is a photo or two around, but I have no idea where they are.

Caribbean Blue - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

Usually when I’m working on a blog post or listing an item in my Indiemade shop, my Pandora station is palying on my computer.  My stream has a great blend (at least to me) of classic rock, some more modern rock, some folk music and a big dose of Celtic inspired music - that's the Scots-Irish coming out in me.  Yesterday, as I was finishing up another blog, the song “Caribbean Blue” by Eithne Pádraigín Ní Bhraonáin (better known as Enya) came on.  Even though Enya sings many Celtic folk songs, some in Gaelic, with her usually heavily synthesized backdrops and multiple layers of her own voice, she is more of a New Age musician, in my humble opinion.  "Caribbean Blue" was a mega-hit for her, and rightly so.  I find her music very relaxing and always pause and enjoy the minutes when songs of hers show up in the Pandora rotation.  Sometimes I'll even plug in one of her CDs and totally bliss out.  To see the amazingly beautiful video of the song click here: CARIBBEAN BLUE

New, One of a Kind Handmade Jewelry by Shadow Dog Designs

It has just been over a month since I shared the newest handmade jewelry in my Indiemade shop.  I usually try to share once every two weeks. But between traveling and getting ready for my first big show of the season (Labor Day weekend), I finally found time today to share my newest earrings and necklaces, all handmade, many with a boho flair and all one of a kind creations.  If something catches your eye, please click the photo or the link below for more information and pictures.  I hope you enjoy each and every one as much as I enjoyed creating them.

Radiant Rainbows! - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

The monsoon season is still going on here in the Desert Southwest.  Most every afternoon, the sky clouds, the wind starts to howl, thunder can be heard and lightning seen . . . and if we are lucky, rain falls.  As happens so often here, our house can get a deluge but a friend just a few block away may only get a few sprinkles.  If the rain ends at just the right time, a magical rainbow can be seen towards the east.  Sometimes a paler secondary - or even very pale triple - rainbow forms.  A colorful, visual gift!  The photo above shows part of a double rainbow (that tried to turn into a triple rainbow).  At the end of this post is a single rainbow, both taken with my trusty camera.
