Queen of Peace Christmas Bazaar - November 11 and 12, 2023

This coming weekend, November 11 and 12, is the Queen of Peace Christmas Bazaar held at the Queen of Peace Catholic Church's Parish Hall.  Always well attended, this weekend is the perfect time to start and/or finish you Christmas holiday shopping.  So much to do and see:  arts, crafts, bake sale, rafffles, Grandma's attic, food, beverages and much more.  For the first time, there is even a car show, Saturday only!  If you are in the area, please stop by and say "Hi!"

Queen of Peace Fall Bazaar - November 12 and 13, 2022

This coming weekend, November 12 and 13, is the Queen of Peace Fall Bazaar held at the Catholic Church's Parish Hall.  After canceling the show the last two years due to covid, the bazaar is back better than ever!   This is the first time I will be a vendor there.  I have heard excellent things about the bazaar pre-covid, so am looking forward to (hopefully) finding new homes for a lot of my new (and old) jewelry!  There is a raffle, arts, crafts, food, beverages, baked goods and much more.  If you are in the area, please stop by and say "Hi!"

Handmade Hot Summer Fun

Here it is, already August and a good part of scorching summer heat is behind us.  Summer here in the Desert Southwest, so far, has actually been pretty mild - at least for here.  Other places haven’t been so lucky, unfortunately.  With the days of summer rapidly waning, I asked artist friends to share two items that represent “hot summer fun” in shades of red, oranges and yellows.  Some items are more on the hot, hot hot summer side and some are more on the mellow cool summer side. But all are artisan handmade / designed and many are one of a kind.  So if something catches your eye on the Handmade Hot Summer Fun blog, please click the photo or the link below the photo for more information. I hope you enjoy all these beauties. And remember: SHOP SMALL and SHOP HANDMADE

Summer Fun - Artisan Handmade

Even though summer has not officially arrived - the Summer Solstice will show up on Thursday, June 21 at 4:07 a.m. Mountain Time here in the Borderlands - thermometers tell another story.  June is the month for triple digits here with a high UV index. Then the temperatures cool down when the monsoon season arrives with its amazing lightning displays and much needed rain.  Despite the June heat, we go about our daily lives enjoying the out of doors, albeit in the mornings and evenings mostly: gardening, cooking on the grill, hiking, star gazing, birding, etc. With an altitude of 3740’, we still have gloriously cool mornings and evenings to enjoy being outside.

Fun and Funky - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

In the Urban Dictionary, I found this fascinating description of the word "funky" as it comes to style:

"Funky can be a mixture of thrift store and name brand, lace and leather, a simple gold bracelet and a huge plastic pink one, matching or unmatching, a ton of jewelry or none, classy and trashy. Being funky is about taking risks, and not being afraid to get a stare or two from people who wish they could be as funky as you . . . funky is never about boring."
