Make It an Artisan Handmade Christmas - 2022 - Week 2

Week 2 of the Countdown to Christmas 2022 has already come and gone . . . and unique artisan handmade / designed items have been left in its wake.  According to the ever ticking Christmas clock, there are only 88 days until Christmas is here . . . once again!   With the rapidly approaching gift giving season in mind, Julie and her wonderful sidekick, Harry, of Blue Morning Expressions are hosting a twelve-week Countdown to Christmas 2022 of artisan handmade items on their Buy Handmade from Makers blog in their Shopify shop.  The twelve week time period was chosen to correspond with the ubiquitous Christmas carol, "The Twelve Days of Christmas''. This week, there were 38 shares by 13 artists with a wide range of gift ideas: jewelry of all sorts, lampwork beads, party stickers and tags, hand crocheted baby gifts, holiday keychains, photographic art and digital art.  If you need a perfect start to your Christmas shopping, the Countdown is the place to do just that!  An excellent motto to follow is: SHOP EARLY, SHOP OFTEN.  And, most of all, SHOP HANDMADE to support small indie businesses!

Make It an Artisan Handmade Christmas - 2022 - Week 1

Wow!  It seems like Christmas was just a few months ago.  It’s very hard to believe that Christmas is only 95 days away according to the ever ticking Christmas clock.  With that in mind, it's definitely not too early to start thinking about all those people on your Christmas shopping list.  What should you get them???  A perfect place to start looking (and buying!) is the 12 week Countdown to Christmas 2022 collections.  Hosted by Julie and Harry of Blue Morning Expressions on their Shopify blog, the collections will be filled with a wide variety of artisan handmade / designed gifts.  A new collection will be added each week through the first full week of December.  This week, there were 27 shares from 9 handmade artists: unique jewelry of all types (earrings, bracelets and necklaces), baby gifts, party stickers / gift tags, fun thumbtacks / magnets, Halloween gifts and more.  A good motto to follow through these weeks leading up to Christmas:  SHOP EARLY, SHOP OFTEN!  And, most of all, SHOP HANDMADE to support small indie businesses!

Halloween and Day of the Dead

Halloween and Day of the Dead will be here before we know it!  To get the word out about all of the spooky goodies in our shops, please share two Halloween inspired items.  They don't have to be actuall Halloween items but can be the colors of orange, black and brown usually associated with Halloween, Dia de los Muertos and autumn.  The InLinkz is open now and will close this Saturday, September 10, at 12:00 p.m. MDT.  I hope to have the blog out by Monday morning.

If you participate, please share each item and the blog on at least two social media sites (I'll be tweeting and sharing on several Pinterest boards both from the linkup and from the actual blog).  Please use the hashtag #Halloween2022 for tweeting so the items are easily found.

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

Fall Fun - Artisan Handmade

“Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been

saving up all year for the grand finale.”

 Lauren DeStefano

For many, many people, fall is a favorite time of the year, when the heat of summer dissipates into the coolness of autumn and the deciduous trees are a riot of color.  Here in the Desert Southwest, the temperatures are still reaching the mid-90’s during the day.  But the temps in the morning are dipping into the mid-60’s, a glorious reminder that the first cool front will blow through any day now.  A perfect time for gardening.  And just to sit and watch the grand finale . . .  and to just be . . .

Make It a Handmade Christmas 2020 - Week 5

Week 5 of the Countdown to Christmas rushed right on by (the time goes quicker and quicker each week, it seems!), and a huge variety of fabulous artisan handmade items were left in its wake.  According to the ever ticking Christmas clock, there are only 65 days, barely over 2 months, before Jolly Ol’ Santa and his reindeer arrive once again. Now is the perfect time to start your holiday shopping and the Countdown is the perfect place!  Remember this motto: SHOP EARLYSHOP OFTEN! And, most of all, SHOP HANDMADE!

Autumn Beauties - Artisan Handmade

"Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower." — Albert Camus

I don’t know about you, but autumn is my favorite time of the year, although it’s somewhat bittersweet since winter follows.  It’s a time where the temperatures (at least here in the Desert Southwest) are moderating and thankfully, the gates of the blast furnace of Hell for this extreme heat summer have closed.  It’s a time for rethinking and replacing plants that didn’t make it through this summer.  Many people start fall gardens and farmers bring in their harvest.  Fall is part of that ongoing cycle of loss, rest, regeneration and, ultimately, regrowth.  The Autumn Equinox is a balance between light and dark, a balance between the season that happens again in the spring.  And who doesn’t love the trees and some shrubs with their gorgeous leaf displays as they prepare for their winter sleep.
