Make It a Handmade Christmas 2021 - Week 1

My gosh! Wasn't last Christmas like . . . three months ago? With as strange as the year 2021 has been so far, it’s hard to believe that Christmas is only 94 days away (according to the ever ticking Christmas clock). It's definitely not too early to start thinking about all those people on your Christmas shopping list. A perfect place to start looking (and buying) is the 12 week Countdown to Christmas 2021 hosted by Julie and Harry of Blue Morning Expressions that is filled with a wide variety of handmade gifts. A new collection will be added each week.

I've been working hard these past several weeks crating and adding new jewelry into my SHADOW DOG DESIGNS shop. Below are the latest necklaces and earrings that have been listed, an even dozen, all unique and all one of a kind designs. You’ll find a wide variety of styles, from boho to elegant . . . with some designs combining both! Also you'll find two new pieces from my "dog / cat rescue jewelry" line, where, when purchased, one half (1/2) of the purchase price is donated to an animal rescue group. Menagerie: a collection of animals, frequently exotic, kept for display. The term was first used in 17th-century France, in reference to the management of household or domestic stock.
Anyone who knows me knows I love animals in all shapes and sizes - always have, always will. So I wanted to share a collection of animal jewelry with you that can be found in my Shadow Dog Designs handmade jewelry shop. Even though these animals found on these earrings and necklaces are not alive, they can definitely be termed a menagerie since there is a wide variety, from exotic animals, such as tigers and giraffes, to domestic animals, like dogs and cats. Eleven New Necklaces and Earrings Handmade by Shadow Dog Designs

It has been quite a while since I shared new jewelry designs found in my SHADOW DOG DESIGNS shop. It seems the days . . . and the weeks . . . . and the months just speed right on by. I've been spending a LOT of time outside working in flower beds and just sitting and enjoying all the birds and other animals that come to the back yard. And watching Seamus be his goofy dog self. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous so the pull to be outside is greater than the pull to be in front of the computer. Today I'm sharing eleven new designs in my shop, all one of a kind jewelry. As you can see there is a wide range of desgins: some simple and some more comlicated, some small and some big and bold. And there are several new animal rescue designs which, when sold, one-half of the purchase price goes to an animal recue organization. I hope you enjoy these pieces. New Handmade Jewelry by Shadow Dog Designs

You would seem due sheltering in place because of the COVID-19 pandemic, I’d have more time to create new jewelry and blog. Before, my days were very structured. Now they’re not, even though I try to structure them. It seems I find myself saying, “I’ll do it tomorrow” . . . and then when tomorrow rolls around, it becomes “tomorrow” again. So, this morning, I sat myself down to create a new blog showcasing the newest pieces of jewelry in my SHADOW DOG DESIGNS shop. Fourteen handmade beauties: nine pairs of earrings, four necklaces and one bracelet. They are all one of a kind creations from a variety of materials including, gemstones, polymer clay, Czech glass, Swarovski crystals and a host of other things. Flora and Fauna - Artisan Handmade

The Earth is such a beautiful place to live on, if we just take the time to look and observe. No matter where we go, unique plants and animals can be found, two very important parts of any ecosystem. I’ve been lucky to have lived in many places and many different ecosystems, from Central Texas to North Carolina, from near Georgian Bay in Canada to a forest in Northern Virginia, from North Texas to an island in South Carolina. Now I live in the gorgeous Desert Southwest. The flora and fauna of each place was awe-inspiring - some the same but, most often, very different. Since I love what Mother Nature has to offer, I find it all VERY, VERY interesting and want to keep on learning about how our wonderful Earth functions . . . and what we need to do to heal it.
