Handmade Earrings and Necklaces for Mothers Day - New Jewelry by Shadow Dog Designs

It has been almost a month since I last shared my newest Shadow Dog Designs handmade necklaces and earrings.  Where does the time go? Most of my time has been spent getting ready for art shows and then selling at art shows.  My first was last weekend, the Kermezaar Art Festival, with two more big shows this month. Fortunately my stock of jewelry is pretty good, but I always like to have at least a few new things for each show.  Will continue with creating new pieces as soon as this is posted.

Every Flower is a Soul - Artisan Handmade and Vintage

Here in the Desert Southwest, you can feel that spring is not far off.  The days are getting longer, the winds are a bit windier, and, with the recent rains, the mountains and the desert have a lovely tinge of green.  The first swallows of the season are soaring and dipping through the arroyo that butts up against out back yard.  Other bird migrants will soon be here - yay!  I can almost feel the flowers stirring, flowers of all types will soon make their much anticipated appearance before the heat sets in.

Make it a Handmade Valentine's Day!

Every February 14, candy, flowers and gifts are exchanged between loved ones in several countries, all in the name of St. Valentine. The history of Valentine’s Day contains remnants of both Christian and ancient Roman traditions.  The patron saint himself is shrouded in mystery.  Who is this mysterious Valentine?  Where did traditions associated with Valentine’s Day come from?  Being of inquiring mind, I did some research and decided to share my findings, along with a whole host of artisan handmade items, each one a perfect Valentine’s Day gift for a loved one:

In its wake, a wonderful assortment of handmade items were shared:  from jewelry to crocheted and knitted items; from lampwork glass beads to wooden Christmas ornaments; from photography to original art, and many, many more creative beauties!

New Handmade Earrings and One Necklace by Shadow Dog Designs - Jewelry Gift Ideas

It has been a month since the last time my newest handmade jewelry was shared.  A week stay in Dallas at the beginning of the month and then a glorious week stay in Oregon last week definitely cut into my creative time.  But I came back filled with all sorts of new jewelry ideas - I just hope the Muses are inspired, as well!

Ancient Symbols in a Modern World - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

Symbols have always had a great significance in the lives of humans, from pre-historic times to modern man.  Since ancient symbols are ingrained into our lives, most people don't realize these symbols are everywhere.  From the logos of modern companies (Starbucks with their mermaid), to television shows (spirals in True Detective) and movies (Legendary Pictures with their Celtic knot logo) from religious books and texts (The Bible, The Koran)  to decorations on buildings (sunbursts and dolphins), ancient symbols are everywhere.
