New Handmade Earrings - Jewelry by Shadow Dog Designs

It has been a good while since I shared new jewelry here on my blog. So I decided to remedy that now! It seems I have been working more on earrings lately than necklaces. Not sure why. The one necklace I make and list sold almost immediately. Maybe I should make more necklaces! Anyway, shared here are the newest bakers's dozen handmade earrings in my Shadow Dog Designs jewelry shop.

It’s definitely been a loooong time since I last shared my newest jewelry designs. Thanksgiving, Christmas and the year 2020 are finally behind us. Good riddance to 2020, although, believe it or not, there were some bright spots! I have to think and give thanks to those instead of dwelling on the depressing things of the past year. One of the things that was good was the ability to sit and design lots of new necklaces and earrings, along with some bracelets, without the show season to interrupt (although I definitely DO miss meeting people and selling at shows!). Online sales were excellent so many of the new designs listed before Christmas are gone, along with numerous oldies but goodies. Since Valentine’s Day is looming, I decided to pull together ten of the newest designs still in my shop. I hope you enjoy the new beauties!
Make It a Handmade Mothers Day - Week 3

It's been over a week now since my husband and I decided to really get serious about social distancing due to COVID-19. I keep hearing how people are bored and have nothng to do. Not true in my case. I keep VERY busy! Now that we're in the Upside Down, I realized - except for yoga and working out at the YWCA for an hour each weekday, eating out with friends now and then, and doing art shows - my life, once I started creating jewelry and selling online, always had a lot of social distancing. And I bet a lot of my artist friends are the same way. OK, enough of that. I just want everyone to stay safe and healthy out there!

I've been working hard to list new handmade jewelry in my Shadow Dog Designs shop. But with being a vendor at numerous art shows and with perfect weather for working in the flower beads, it's often hard to spend long hours in front of the computer. There is something ALL handmade artists go through: you design a beautiful piece of jewelry, or create a fabulous painting, or crochet an intricate piece of table art, or . . . the list goes on and on. You have put so much of yourself into the piece, you love it and you are sure it will sell very, very quickly. Unfortunately, there it still sits in your shop . . . and you have no idea why!

Due to my mother's side of the family, quite a lot of Scots-Irish blood flows through my veins, being a MacLellan and an O'Birney. I grew up listening to old Irish ballads by John McCormack and others and also to Scottish bagpipe music. I thrilled to the legends of Brian Boru, the Fenian Cycle and others - and also to the lifes of Irish saints (although those weren't quite as exciting). When St. Patrick's Day rolls around, I find myself going though my CDs of Irish folk songs, popping one into my computer and singing along (probably much to the chagrin of Seamus - am surprised he doesn't howl along!). In honor of the upcoming St. Patrick's Day, I also wanted to share handmade items from talented artist friends that use green as all or part if the design.

It has been three weeks since the last blog share of the new handmade earrings and necklaces in my Shadow Dog Designs jewelry shop. I have been extremely busy making new pieces with the resulting product photography, photo editing and listing the new pieces . . . with MUCH more to come. Green and red are colors that have been closely associated with Christmas for centuries.. Last week I shared how red became a Christmas color. You can read that post here: Christmas Red. This week, green, the other Christmas color, is explored mainly through the symbolism of holly, mistletoe and evergreen trees.
