Blossoms, Butterflies and Birds - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

Blossoms, butterflies and birds . . . what beautifully wonderful elements of summer.  Even though the dog days of summer are on us, flowers are still blooming, butterflies are still nectaring and birds are still singing and raising their families.  Today’s Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade features a wide range of artisan creations that showcase the three B’s, each celebrating the wonder of Mother Nature.  If something catches your eye, please click the live link under the photo to be taken to the artist’s studio for more information and photos.  I hope you enjoy these Blossoms, Butterflies and Birds selections:

Tantalizing Turquoise Blue - Artisan Handmade Creations

Turquoise is a color, in all its glorious shades from light to dark, that is greatly beloved by most people.  It is a combination of blue with a small amount of yellow, fitting in the color scale between blue and green.   In color psychology, turquoise is used to heal the emotions, creating emotional balance and stability.  It seems to radiate peace, calm and tranquility coupled with an uplifting quality.  Metaphysically, if it is a favorite color, you are said to be seeking spiritual fulfillment and are often seen as evolved or an “old” soul.

Breathtaking Blues and Greens - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

Maybe it’s because I spent a good part of the week before last in a much greener part of the state, but blues and greens have been much on my mind lately.  In the Desert Southwest, the color blue is extremely well represented with our huge, ever changing blue skies.  But since the monsoon rains have been virtually nonexistent so far, the desert is still a toasty brown.  I long for the rains and the land to green up like it normally does this time of the year and be a perfect complement to the blue skies.

Captivating Czech Glass - A Short History

Czech glass is so much fun to use in handmade jewelry designs due to the extremely large choice of shapes, sizes, colors and finishes.  I have to admit . . . I have become addicted to the beauties.  I enjoy using Czech glass mainly for earrings, but many people use the glass beads for necklaces, bracelets and many other projects.  Czech glass has a long, rich history which I find extremely fascinating.  I thought I would share a short history of Czech glass and some handmade jewelry designs from artists using Czech glass as a main design component.

Unique New Handmade Jewelry Designs by Shadow Dog Designs

Another two weeks have come and gone since my last new handmade jewelry post in my Shadow Dog Designs shop.  Between photographing, photo editing and listing new jewelry, I have also been getting ready for the Kermezaar Arts Festival that takes place this Saturday and Sunday.  It is a juried show for strictly handmade items and is taking place at the El Paso International Museum.  My first time!  Am excited to have been accepted!

Purple is Perfect for Spring - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

Over the centuries, purple has been regarded as the color of royalty and is also thought of as a color of creativity.  It also has a softer side being one of the first colors of spring that pops up in its many hues and shades on flowers.  It is near the top of my list of favorite colors, as are the two colors that combine to make purple.  Many, many people, especially women according to research, have a passion for the color purple, and I can see why with its oh-so-rich color!  I decided to do a bit of research about the color purple and share a bit of what I found.  And, also shared, are beautiful handmade artisan creations featuring purples.

Unique New Handmade Jewelry from Shadow Dog Designs

Lots of new handmade jewelry designs went into my Shadow Dog Designs Indiemade shop the last two weeks.  I have been busy, busy, busy creating new necklaces and earrings.  Arts Festivals are coming up so the shop needs to be well stocked because the shows will (hopefully) draw from the design that are there and the ones that will not be listed.  The designs continue to be a combination of boho, of elegance and everything in between - wherever the Muses take me.  I hope you enjoy looking at the new beauties.  Two oldies but goodies have been added to make an even 10 jewelry designs.  To see more photos and information of each, please click the link below each photo:

The Language of Flowers - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

There is a language, little known,

Lovers claim it as their own.

Its symbols smile upon the land,

Wrought by nature's wondrous hand ...
