Franciscan Festival of Fine Arts - Holy Cross Retreat Center

If you are interested in spending a fun day at a wonderful arts show, the FRANCISCAN FESTIVAL OF FINE ARTS is being held this weekend, September 4 and 5, at Holy Cross Retreat Center in Mesilla Park, NM.  A wide variety of juried art will be avainable to browse and to buy (make an artist's day!).  Music, food and drink will also be available.  As you can see from the photos below (all courtesy of Father Tom), there is a wide range of art and activities.  I'll be there with my SHADOW DOG DESIGNS handmade jewelry booth.  Stop by and say "Hi!"

Handmade Hot Summer Fun

Here it is, already August and a good part of scorching summer heat is behind us.  Summer here in the Desert Southwest, so far, has actually been pretty mild - at least for here.  Other places haven’t been so lucky, unfortunately.  With the days of summer rapidly waning, I asked artist friends to share two items that represent “hot summer fun” in shades of red, oranges and yellows.  Some items are more on the hot, hot hot summer side and some are more on the mellow cool summer side. It's hard to believe that Week 11 of the Countdown to Christmas 2020 has come and gone . . . . and there is only one more week left!  When the Countdown starts, the end of the twelve weeks seems a looooong way off. The - BAM! - here it is! And Christmas is approximately three weeks away.  Where does the time go? The ever ticking Christmas clock doesn’t let up.  Those seconds just keep ticking down until the jolly man in red and white leaves wonderful gifts or lumps of coal under the tree.  What is the Countdown? It’s a place for handmade artists to share three of their beautiful (often one of a kind) creations. For the Love of Earrings - A Short History

I don't know about you, but I feel strange when I hop in the trusty Dog Mobile and then notice I have forgotten to put on a pair of earrings!   At least there, in the driveway, I can hop out of the truck, run inside and grab a pair to put on.  But, heaven help me, if I get somewhere and realize I am earrings-less!  It's like the world has tilted just a bit on its axis and I’m in the Upside Down.  Being an ardent wearer of pierced earrings since the early 1970’s, I have quite the collection of handcrafted Native American earrings  - and earrings I’ve made myself and then couldn’t part with.  Just LOVE them!
