Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost . . .

I love quotes . . . always have, always will.  Sometimes a particularly meaningful or beautiful set of words will stop me in my tracks as I ponder the significance.  The quote will be read over and over again, mulled over and over again, and then committed to memory (hopefully).  The power of words never fails to amaze me.  And the power of words can be very scary when they espouse bigotry and hate.  I have a rather large "Words of Wisdom and Profundity" board on Pinterest.  No hate there . . . although a great quote I love says, "A truly great library has something to offend everyone."  So maybe some people will find something offensive in it.  Hey, it is what it is.

Unique New Handmade Jewelry at Shadow Dog Designs

Finally the holiday Art Festivals have ended.  Yay!  I had been very busy doing shows since Labor Day weekend; some months several shows were scheduled back-to-back weekends.  Bewteen them and a busy on line sales season, believe me, I am ready for a little rest and relaxation.  That doesn't mean I'll quit listing new items in my Indiemade shop and all that entails.  Oh, no.  But the idea of having 5-6 weeks free of shows makes me more than a little giddy!

Spirals, Knots, Bumps and Curves - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade - December 23, 2015

The theme of this blog post came about because I listed a new pair of earrings that feature hand painted copper spiral rectangles by Kristi of KristiBowmanDesign.  Whenever I see spirals, I start musing on their ancient . . . and modern . . . appeal in designs.  Then knots, bumps and curves came to mind, all of which, along with spirals, can be found pecked or drawn or carved in the sides of caves, on boulders, painted on pottery and used in contemporary pieces.  These designs will never go out of style.

A Little of This, A Little of That - All Handmade

Many months ago, a team of wonderful artists pulled together to form a group called the Cross Partners in Promotion.  It's a group that not only heavily promotes each other, but also offers congratulations, offers support, offers sympathy, offers interesting and entertaining articles, and abounds in cheerleading efforts . . . and comforted each other after unexpectedly loosing a dear team member.  Most of us have known each other online for years and have become an extended family.  I decided to share a wide range of lovely handmade items from my artist friends who have checked into the group in the past seven days.  I hope these beauties are enjoyed as much as I have enjoyed picking them out and sharing them!

Gorgeous Handmade Greens for Christmas Gift Giving - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday - December 8, 2015

Christmas is drawing ever nearer.  Because of this, my Wonderful Handmade Wednesday blog last week featured artisan made items in red.  This week the color chosen is green - red and green, traditional holiday colors.  But then I started wondering, “Hmmmmm . . . where did the tradition of red and green being “Christmas colors” come from?”  An inquiring mind wanted to know so the google search began.
