Peacefully Pink - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

Even though the color pink is not a favorite color, I have come to respect it.  That came about when I read an article stating that a person can sell more at handmade art shows if they wear a pastel pink colored shirt.  In color psychology, light pink is a positive color inspiring warm, comforting thoughts and is a sign of peace and hope.  According to the article, when you wore pink, people found you more thoughtful and insightful and you were more trusted.  The author, who sold at shows, swore by wearing pink and said her sales definitely increased once she made the change.

It's A Beach Wedding - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

June is the traditional month to get married.  But how did that tradition start? Inquiring minds want to know!  I found two major thoughts on the start of the tradition of June weddings:

As a Child I Walked - Handmade Greens on Indiemade

Several weekends ago, I was driving by a second hand book store that is run by the local library.  Those that know me well know that I am an avid reader - am often at my most happiest when reading a good book with Seamus snoozing by my side.  Since the bookstore was open, the Dog Mobile swerved into the parking lot and I walked into the store.  It didn’t take me long to find a stack of books that HAD to go home with me, an eclectic mixture to be sure.

Easter Egg Colors - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade - March 23, 2016

Easter Sunday is almost on us, coming fairly early this year.  In celebration of Easter, I decided to base this Wonderful Handmade Wednesday post on the glorious colors of Easter eggs, since there will be millions dyed, hunted and rolled come Sunday.  There is an old Latin proverb:  "Omne vivum ex ovo," which means "all life comes from an egg."  Many ancient cultures the world over believed the whole universe was created from an egg, the egg an important symbol of life.  Before Christianity, eggs were revered by pagans as a symbols of fertility and resurrection and played important roles in their return-of-spring celebrations.  Christians used Easter eggs (which started to be painted around the 13th century) to represent Jesus’ emergence from the tomb and his resurrection.  However, many scholars point out that ancient Persians painted eggs for Nowrooz, their New Year celebration falling on the Spring Equinox, a tradition that continues to this day and was picked up by cultures and religions around the world.

Purple is Perfect for Spring - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday on Indiemade

Over the centuries, purple has been regarded as the color of royalty and is also thought of as a color of creativity.  It also has a softer side being one of the first colors of spring that pops up in its many hues and shades on flowers.  It is near the top of my list of favorite colors, as are the two colors that combine to make purple.  Many, many people, especially women according to research, have a passion for the color purple, and I can see why with its oh-so-rich color!  I decided to do a bit of research about the color purple and share a bit of what I found.  And, also shared, are beautiful handmade artisan creations featuring purples.

Beautiful Artisan Handmade Creations from the Cross Partners in Promotion Group!

The Cross Partners in Promotion group gathered almost a year ago (has it been almost a year already?) on G+ to promote each others handmade items.  And what a great group it is with a HUGE amount of talent.  I want to share that talent with you by sharing one item from each person who was active this week in sharing and/or promoting.  Below are the items chosen, listed in a scientific order achieved from drawing numbers randomly from a small bowl (:

The Eastern Sun, A Love Song - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday

I feel I have been walking on a cloud ever since my husband and I snagged tickets to see Justin Hayward in Austin, Texas, in June.  For those who aren’t familiar with his name, you will certainly recognize his voice from Moody Blues songs such as "Nights in White Satin", "Your Wildest Dreams", "Tuesday Afternoon" and "Question".  I have been a Moody Blues fan since around 1970 and have had the privilege to see them many, many times from when the original five toured to the scaled down version of just three Moodies when they passed through here two years ago.  But this will be the first time seeing Justin solo. Shhhh . . . this is just between you and me and please don't tell my husband (although I'm pretty sure he knows) I have been madly in love with Justin since I first saw the Moody Blues in concert those many years ago.

A Joyful Heart - Wonderful Handmade Wednesday - January 20, 2016

A favorite quote, one that I often remind myself, is from Mother Teresa:  "A joyful heart is the inevitable result of a heart burning with love."  Such true words!
