I have always loved the quote shared above. Bishop Reginald Heber (1783-1826), well known for his poetry, describes in just a few words the joyousness of spring on the return of flowers. I, myself, can’t wait to finish the new flower bed I started digging last fall and filling it with native plants chosen specifically for pollinators of all types. Let the flowers paint the laughing soil! And let the colorful flowers be an important food source for bees of all types, flower flies, butterflies, moths, wasps and hummingbirds.
With all-things-flower in mind, I invited artist friends to share two of their floral designs. As you will see in the beautiful items below, there is a wide range of flowers to be had, from note cards to jewelry, from lampwork beads to photography, from photography to digital art and many, many more! Be sure to pick a bouquet of floral beauties and support small handmade businesses!

Christmas Open House: Nina Eaton Photography and Shadow Dog Designs

Once again this December, Nina Eaton of Nina Eaton Photography, is hosting a Christmas Open House on December 3 and 4, 2022. And she invited me to participate in it again. THANK YOU so much, Nina! If you are finishing up your holiday shopping (or haven't even started yet!), stop by for a wide assortment of unique gifts. Many of the items will make perfect stocking stuffers. Nina will have a wonderful selection of her El Paso photography: matted and gallery wrap prints, note cards, stone coasters, trivets, calendars, mouse pads, and other photographic beauties. I'll have a whole host of my one of a kind handmade jewelry: necklaces, earrings and a few bracelets. You'll find many more designs at the Open House than are listed in my Shadow Dog Designs shop. It is so hard to believe (at least to me - how about you?) that this is the first day of November . . . . and that we have only 5 more weeks of the Countdown to Christmas 2022! It’s also hard to believe that Christmas will be here before we know it. According to the ever ticking Christmas clock, there are only 53 days until jolly Santa Claus drops down that chimney and either leaves wonderful gifts or lumps of coal for deserving or not-so-deserving boys and girls. Since Christmas is less than two months away, now is the perfect time to start your holiday shopping. And the Countdown is the perfect place! Remember this motto: SHOP EARLY, SHOP OFTEN! And, most of all, please BUY HANDMADE from small indie business owners! Since everything is handmade from the heart, we truly appreciate each and every order!

It’s hard to believe that we’re already half-way finished with the twelve week Countdown to Christmas 2022! Yikes! That means Christmas is bearing down on us and will soon be here - two months away! According to the ever ticking Christmas clock, there are only 60 days until the jolly ho-ho-ho-ing Santa and his merry band of clattering reindeer arrive once again. Now is the perfect time to start your holiday shopping and the Countdown is the perfect place to buy unique beauties! Remember this motto: SHOP EARLY, SHOP OFTEN! Western Hills UMC Autumn Bazaar - Saturday, October 8, 2022

After a two year hiatus due to Covid, the Western Hills UMC Autumn Bazaar is back this coming Saturday, October 8! Hosted by the ladies of the church (for 30+ years now!), over 50 booths of local El Paso artists and other vendors will be there, including Nina Eaton of Nina Eaton Photography, Candy Mayer of Art By Candy Mayer and me, Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs. Admission is free. AND, as you can see from the information below, there are many more things going on besides shopping at the vendors booths (my personal favorites are the book sale and Grandma's Attic). Plus there's a silent auction, door prizes and many other fun things. All proceeds go towards UMW charities / mission projects. Please stop by my booth and say "Hi!" Look forward to seeing you there!
Halloween - Spooky Artisan Handmade Goodies - 2022

Halloween will soon be here, a little more than six weeks away! It’s a favorite day / evening for many with a steady stream of trick or treaters in creepy or cute costumes, grinning skulls, Jack O’ Lantern pumpkins, spooky ghosts and other notorious beasts. During the weeks before October 31, it’s fun to wear spooky accessories or decorate the home for Halloween. With that in mind, handmade artist friends were invited to share two Halloween-type items - whether symbolic or filled with the traditional colors or both. You’ll see a wide variety of spine-tingling jewelry, eye-catching photography, fun party items, a cute baby gift set, an orange cat print, unique lampwork glass beads and your choice of sugar skull pincushions. Each one of these handmade beauties, many of which are one of a kind pieces, are perfect to help celebrate that supernatural day of the year.
