Autumn Beauties - Artisan Handmade Three for Thursday

“Autumn is a second spring where every leaf is a flower” . . . Albert Camus

Even though it still is getting into the low 90’s here in the Desert Southwest, the mornings have begun to fill with the glorious tentacles of autumn.  Everyone I know wants to linger as long as they can outside, sipping their coffee or tea, reading the newspaper, or, like me, just sitting and taking it all in.  Not as many hummingbirds are practicing gluttony at the hummingbird feeders. Am assuming many are winging their way further south for the coming winter. I’ll miss them - a bittersweet goodbye.  Fall is just around the corner.

Artisan Handmade Beauties - Three for Thursday

My favorite reason to buy handmade is just that - it's handmade, which means quality, and a whole lot of love!

Cammi Higley

I love the quote above from Cammi about handmade . . . because it’s so TRUE!  The artists featured in this week’s Three for Thursday blog definitely create quality products, all made with HUGE doses of love.  The artists this week are Roxanne of watercolorsNmore who uses watercolors to convey the beauty of Florida;  Sue of starspiritstudio who creates amazing rustic terra cotta findings and reclaimed tin earring dangles; and, Sharon of RavensBendFolkArt who paints one of a kind functional items with a whimsical folk art flair.  If something catches your eye, please be sure to click on the photo or the link below the picture to be taken to the item for more photos and information. I hope you enjoy the unique artisan handmade items featured below. And remember: BUY HANDMADE!

It's an Artisan Handmade Three for Thursday - Polymer Clay

I think there is something very special about handmade work.  You can appreciate the thought, detail and time that have been invested into creating something amazing, whether it is great or small.  In my opinion, handmade goods are accessible works of art.

Tami Gagne

What an amazing quote . . . and one I agree with 100%.  There is always something very special about a handmade item since part of the artist’s heart and soul goes into each piece created.  You will definitely see what I mean when you look at the work of the artist’s featured today. Not that I planned it this way - it just happened - but the the three artists included in this week’s Three for Thursday blog are all polymer clay artists (who also work in other mediums), creating such amazing and diverse art.  The artist’s are: Pati Bannister of patibannister; Julie Cleveland of Blue Morning Expressions; and Susana Paredes of EarthExpressions. I have purchased from all three of these polymer clay artists and can guarantee that their work is superb.

Artisan Handmade Gift Ideas - Three for Thursday

“I work to provide symbolic reminders of our connection to the earth and beyond.”

I love this quote from Christine of beadfreaky, one of the artists featured in this week’s Three for Thursday blog.  I firmly believe a large majority of handmade artists feel that way since since each piece created has a bit of the maker’s own heart and spirit captured in it.  Each handmade piece of art is as meaningful and unique as the person who created it.

SOMETHING HANDMADE IS SO MUCH MORE MEANINGFUL . . . Beth Wert

I totally agree with the above quote . . something artisan handmade is ALWAYS much more meaningful.  And you’ll see why when you look at the beautiful handmade items by the artists chosen for today’s Three for Thursday blog post.  The artists featured today are: Linda of TreasuresofJewels who makes jewelry with a mostly romantic Victorian flair; Pamela of MagdaleneKnits who creates a wide variety of hand crocheted and knitted keepsakes; and, Suzanne of RivendellRockJewelry who crafts lovely jewelry mainly using gemstones. Artisan Handmade Gift Ideas - Three for Thursday

I love this quote by Zac Posen, an American fashion designer, since it’s the way I feel about making artisan handmade items and buying artisan handmade items to gift to friends:

I want to make things of quality. I'm a big believer in handmade, tactile, crafted pieces. I want to keep that tradition alive.

Handmade for Mother's Day - Three for Thursday

Being a handmade artist myself, I have always loved this quote:

You can't buy LOVE, but you can buy HANDMADE . . .  and that's kind of the same thing.

Handmade artists put a great amount of heart and soul and love into their pieces.  So, in my humble opinion, you ARE buying love. Each of the three items from three artists featured below put a LOT of themselves into each piece.  I hope you enjoy these fabulous beauties. And remember: Mother’s Day will be here soon!
