Has anyone notice on Etsy - besides the horrendous ORANGE heading - they have not eliminated descriptiona altogetther??? Really how is a customer supposed to know what they are purchasing?

Greg, Tony and I have spent many very happy days in Lahaina, Maui. We just celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary last year there, with all of our kids, our son-in-law and our older son's fiancée. So we know or knew the town very well. We went to mass at the Catholic church that survived more times than I can remember. And many of the sterling silver pendants that Tony and I have turned into necklaces were purchased at the Golden Mermaid, on the corner of Dickenson and Front Streets.

That is all gone now. and we are morning the loss. But that is not the point - or it is only a tiny point to this message.

I have been in touch with Samaritan's Purse, a wonderful organization that brings rescue and hope to those in need around the world. I was informed that they can not go into Lahaina, nor can most, if not all (except perhaps the Red Cross) charity organizations due to "red tape." I have been getting some messages from some of the residents and shop owners that aid IS NOT GETTING TO THEM. Individuals are bringing in supplies via canoes and small boats. Most have not even received FEMA's $700 "that's all you are getting" checks and housing is beyond problematical. These are good people, American citizens, who worked hard every day, loved their families, and brought joy to many people each and every day.

Because they are on a small island, far from the mainland, their plight is not getting the publicity it deserves nor are they receiving the help they so desperately need. I have already begun a series of letters to various members of congress and to the press asking for a spotlight to be shone on this.

If any of you have any contacts with anyone with a mic, a member of government, or a celebrity, could you please ask them to investigate this?
