The RHAPSODY IN RED necklace is so very well named, a rhapsody of coral and silver! The necklace is created with red coral tubes, Thai Hill Tribes fine silver spirals and sterling silver. The red coral tubes are a gorgeous, eye-catching red, perfect to wear with your light summer clothes! The tubes have a wonderful shiny finish and are the perfect complement to the spirals. The fine silver spirals were handmade by the Karen Hill Tribe in Thailand. Since each piece is carefully made by hand, the spirals are not exactly the same. That's why I so love Thai fine silver! The fine silver has such a warm, old silver glow to it. To separate the red coral tubes, sterling silver 2mm beads were used - the sterling beads also give wonderful drape to the necklace. To finish the RHAPSODY IN RED necklace perfectly, a sterling silver s-clasp was used.

Thai Hill Tribe fine silver is made by the Karen Hill Tribe high in the mountains of Thailand using traditional techniques. Because they live so close to nature, a majority of Hill Tribe designs have nature-inspired or symbolic designs. Fine silver has a higher silver content than sterling silver - it can be up to 99% pure as opposed to sterling silver which is 92.5% pure silver. Because of the higher silver content, fine silver has a beautiful "old" glow to it and does not tarnish as quickly as sterling silver does.
