This handmade, one of a kind necklace, made with fabulous sponge coral "axes" and rounds and sterling silver, is definitely a chunky statement piece! The sponge coral used in the MAIKA'I (Hawaiian for "beautiful") necklace is a rich, deep reddish orange color with lots of gorgeous patterning. Five sponge coral "axes" hang in the front of the necklace and definitely give the piece an ethnic look, like a necklace a stunning Polynesian princess would wear. Sterling silver daisy spacers and 2mm beads separate the "axes" from large sponge coral rounds. Seven sponge coral rounds on each side finish the main body of the necklace. Sterling silver wire protectors connect onto a lovely sterling silver hook clasp and 2" / 5.1 cm sterling silver extender chain. A small sponge coral round dangles from the end of the extender chain.
