The FLOREANA necklace is a beautiful one of a kind piece of jewelry created with a Thai Hill Tribes fine silver pendant, rhyolite squared tubes, orange coral frangia and sterling silver. The highlight of the necklace is a teardrop shaped Thai Hill Tribes handmade fine silver pendant that has a gorgeous, old silver look to it. Stamped into the pendant are five designs, the middle one being a flower and the two on each side a traditional cup and saucer design. Since Thai silver is made in the highland rainforests of Thailand, I used rhyolite (which is sometimes called "rainforest jasper") to bring the beauty of Nature close. The color of the rhyolite is many shades of gorgeous green with orange/peach spots here and there. To complement the color of the spots, lovely orange coral frangia was used. The groupings of the coral frangia and each stone are separated by 2mm sterling silver beads. A twirled sterling silver toggle clasp finishes the FLOREANA necklace perfectly.

Thai Hill Tribes fine silver is made by the Karen Hill Tribes high in the mountains of Thailand using traditional techniques. Because they live so close to nature, a majority of Hill Tribes designs have nature-inspired or symbolic designs. Fine silver has a higher silver content than sterling silver - it can be up to 99% pure as opposed to sterling silver which is 92.5% pure silver. Because of the higher silver content, fine silver has a beautiful "old" glow to it and does not tarnish as quickly as sterling silver does.
