What a gorgeous pair of one of a kind handmade earrings these are! Made with Thai Hill Tribes handmade fine silver spirals, red coral and sterling silver, they definitely will be noticed when worn. These earrings are a perfect complement to the RHAPSODY IN RED necklace. Spirals are such a beautiful design and the Thai spirals used in these earrings are superb. Since the spirals are handmade, they don't match exactly - which is why I love handmade Thai pieces. Another reason I love Thai fine silver work is because of the warm, "old" silver glow each has. The red coral tubes used in the earrings are a perfect combination with the fine silver, setting the spiral off wonderfully. The red coral is a bright, deep red color. Sterling silver 2mm beads frame the top and bottom of the coral to set the color off even more. The main body of the RHAPSODY IN RED earrings were wire-wrapped to sterling silver earwires.

Thai Hill Tribe fine silver is made by the Karen Hill Tribe high in the mountains of Thailand using traditional techniques. Because they live so close to nature, a majority of Hill Tribe designs have nature-inspired or symbolic designs. Fine silver has a higher silver content than sterling silver - it can be up to 99% pure as opposed to sterling silver which is 92.5% pure silver. Because of the higher silver content, fine silver has a beautiful "old" glow to it and does not tarnish as quickly as sterling silver does.
