This beautiful pair of handmade, one of a kind earrings is made with hand-carved white faux cinnabar, Swarovski crystals and sterling silver. LOTUS LOVE is a perfect pair of earrings for the Spring and Summer! The faux cinnabar lotus design is hand-carved in such exquisite detail! Since the pieces are hand-carved, you will notice that they aren't exactly the same. Unique - that's what I love about handmade! Even though the color is called "white" cinnabar, it is more of an off-white color instead of a snow white. To add sparkle to the gorgeous lotus beads, "light peach" Swarovski bicones were added to the top separated by sterling silver daisy spacers. And to add the bit of "extra", sterling silver butterfly headpins were used. A flower needs a butterfly, right? :) Sterling silver earwires finish the LOTUS LOVE earrings perfectly.

***Genuine cinnabar is a rock type mineral, which was carved and made into jewelry. It often was powdered and added to lacquer. Real cinnabar is no longer produced because the main component is mercury, a highly poisonous neuro-toxin. In the modern jewelry industry, the toxic pigment is replaced by a resin-based polymer that approximates the appearance of pigmented lacquer. The cinnabar beads are produced in a process combining layers and layers of colored polymer lacquer, then hand-carved with intricate patterns.
