This gorgeous pair of one of a kind handmade earrings are a perfect complement to the FLOWER GARDEN necklace. The earrings were created with Thai Hill Tribes fine silver flower beads, facted new jade (dyed) rondelles and sterling silver. The Thai fine silver beads are exquisite in their handmade workmanship - a close look reveals their subtle beauty. Thai silver is a "fine" silver which means it is more pure than the normal sterling silver, up to 99% pure silver as opposed to sterling which is 92.5% pure silver. For more information on Thai silver, please read the paragraph below. The color of the faceted new jade rondelles is absolutely luscious - a wonderful peachy color. Now I am not normally drawn to dyed stones, but these new jade rondelles are amazing! The faceting also gives the earrings some flash as they are worn. Sterling silver daisy spacers and 2mm beads frame the Thai Hill Tribes flower beads. Hand-hammered (by me) headpins, with a loop at the bottom, were used to wire-wrap the main body of the FLOWER GARDEN earrings to sterling silver earwires.

Thai Hill Tribe fine silver is made by the Karen Hill Tribe high in the mountains of Thailand using traditional techniques. Because they live so close to nature, a majority of Hill Tribe designs have nature-inspired or symbolic designs. Fine silver has a higher silver content than sterling silver - it can be up to 99% pure as opposed to sterling silver which is 92.5% pure silver. Because of the higher silver content, fine silver has a beautiful "old" glow to it and does not tarnish as quickly as sterling silver does.
