Filled with ancient wonder, the DESERT SUN handmade necklace is a perfect jewelry gift for the woman who loves the petroglyph magic of the Desert Southwest. The one of a kind necklace features an artisan handmade spiral sun polymer clay pendant with two sizes of carnelian and copper. The eye catching, rustically shaped pendant has a freehand hand carved spiral sun design on white polymer clay. Inspired by Anasazi petroglyphs found painted on canyon walls and caves in the Four Corners area, spiral suns are a symbol of healing and also represent the natural movements and rhythms of life, the constant motion of the universe. After the pendant was cured, earthy desert colored pigments were added in three layers for an aged look. A very light coat of crystal polymer clay sealer was applied to keep the colors bright for years to come. The backside of the pendant is also painted and inscribed with the artist’s mark, a spiral P (see photo #8). Three copper jump rings securely connect the pendant to the main body of the necklace.

Two sizes of carnelian gemstones perfectly highlight the earthy petroglyph pendant. As you can see in the photos, the carnelian ranges in colors from dark orange to almost white. The larger round gemstones are faceted for subtle sparkle. Between each faceted stone are a single carnelian round, separated by a small copper bead on each side, except for the last three at the back. A copper s-clap with a raised design finishes the beautiful necklace.
