What a fabulous necklace that speaks volumes of the mountainous country of Nepal! CONTEMPLATION is a one of a kind (OOAK) beaded necklace created with a hand carved stone amulet or pendant from Nepal, natural sponge coral, finished sponge coral and copper. The focal of the necklace is the gorgeous, intricately hand carved stone (probably limestone) amulet or pendant. The pendant is carved with a different design on each side so you can wear it either way. The symbols represent the Eyes of Buddha which serve as a reminder to behave ethically, meditate, and make ritual offerings in order to eliminate greed from life. The carved symbols on the opposite side represent the "Om Mani Padme Hum" Buddhist mantra that is known world-wide. It is chanted to improve one's karma and to protect against evil and harm. The pendant was hand carved by an artist, a member of a small group of Buddhist men and women who live near the base of Swayambhunath Temple, near Kathmandu, Nepal. The coop effort was organized by Sunita Lama to help provide necessities to struggling families. The pendant is connected to the main body of CONTEMPLATION with an antiqued bronze jump ring.
