Unique handmade jewelry that are certainly eye-catching, the FAOILTIAMA wolf earrings have a definite Celtic vibe! Filled with symbolism, the earrings were created with artisan ceramic wolf head dangles, hand carved soapstone, red Czech glass and sterling silver. Individually made, the rustic dangles feature an intricate raised wolf head with a Celtic knot between the eyes and other flowing Celtic-inspired designs. The raised wolf head is a light tan color. Dark brown glaze in the recessed areas highlight the design and help it to stand out against the background, a dark brown (almost black) matte glaze. The back of each round dangle also has a dark brown glaze. Since the dangles were individually artisan made, they are very similar but also a bit different.

Above the wolf head dangles are found hand carved soapstone rounds and faceted red Czech glass beads. Soapstone is a metamorphic rock that has been used in art for millenia since it is easily carved. The mottled yellowish-tan soapstone beads are hand carved with three ancient cup and ring designs on each. Above each is a single Picasso finish red Czech glass bead with three (tri-cut) facets on each. Sterling silver ball end hook earwires finish the one of a kind earrings, Carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, the FAOILTIAMA were created for the woman who loves Celtic wolf designs and adores wearing unique artisan jewelry. “Faoiltiama” is of Irish origins and means “wolf lady.”

In Celtic lore, the wolf symbolizes strength, loyalty, guardianship and transformation, acting as a spiritual guide and protector. Celtic knots represent unity and strength. Ceramics represent the four elements needed to create it: earth, air, fire and water. Soapstone is said to be grounding with a nurturing energy. Cup and ring designs have many meanings, one of which is that they represent the cosmic cycles and the path of life. Although man made, glass carries the energies of transformation, rebirth and communication. Silver is a metal of love and healing.
