The unique ENIGMA earrings are a perfect jewelry gift for the woman who has a love of the mysteries of ancient tribal symbols. The handmade beauties feature artisan lampwork glass beads, carnelian gemstones, copper and sterling silver. The lampwork beads were individually made with a base of beige glass. Intricate patterns of prehistoric tribal symbols were carefully added to each bead: cup and ring designs, dark dots for evil eye protection, and ovals with dots (be sure to read the meanings of the symbols below). The colors of the high sheen glass used are earthy in various shades of ochre, olive greens and blues. As you can see, each lampwork bead is similar but also different.

Perfectly complementing the earthy colors of the lampwork glass beads, especially the ochre, are hand cut faceted carnelian gemstone rondelles in a rich medium orange color. Since the beads are faceted, they add subtle sparkle to the earrings. Sterling silver French hook earwires with copper bead accents finish the wonderful earrings. Carefully designed by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, the ENIGMA earrings will be sure to please the woman who loves unique, one of a kind jewelry that gives homage to ancient tribal art.

Cup and ring designs held ceremonial or ritualistic significance. Dark dots were seen as a protective measure against the evil eye. In many ancient cultures, a dot represents a point of origin or the beginning of existence, while an oval or circle symbolizes unity and wholeness. Even though man made, glass carries the energies of transformation, rebirth and communication. Copper is said to allow the wearer to recognize barriers in the path of personal development. Silver is a metal of love and healing; it is a mirror to the soul, helping us to see ourselves as others see us.

The handmade ENIGMA earrings were carefully designed and handmade in a dog friendly, smoke free studio. They will be carefully packed in an organza jewelry bag with tissue, perfect for gift giving to a loved one . . . or to yourself!
