Almost like wearing a piece of the aurora borealis around your neck, three amazing gemstones come together to create the eye-catching AURORA necklace! One of a kind statement jewelry, the chunky necklace features a vintage Southwest triple gemstone pendant, glowing labradorite ovals and sterling silver. The intricate sterling silver pendant was artisan made and set with three gemstones: natural ruby, rutilated quartz and labradorite. The natural ruby has not been dyed or heat treated and has a rich rose / ruby red color. Below it is rutilated quartz, a type of quartz with golden needle like inclusions (that don’t show up well in the photos). On the bottom is labradorite, a gemstone known for its stunning flashes of blue, green, yellow and other colors that change as the angle of the light changes. The back of the vintage pendant is hallmarked with .925 showing it is sterling silver, but, unfortunately, the Southwest artist who created it 30+ years ago did not sign it.

Labradorite ovals add even more color shifting luminescence to the necklace design. The gemstones are a greenish gray and all exhibit flashes of colors (called labradorescence), each one different from the others. Flares of breathtaking blues and greens are the most common, with some yellow and orange on a stone or two. The gemstones are much “flashier” in real life. A sterling silver bead separates each gemstone so the necklace drapes beautifully. Finishing the one of a kind necklace is a textured sterling silver hook clasp set. Carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, the AURORA necklace was created for the woman who loves dramatic gemstone jewelry with the addition of dazzling flashes of color!

Labradorite is believed to be a stone of spiritual growth, mental illumination and imagination. Silver is a metal of love and healing; it is a mirror to the soul, helping us to see ourselves as others see us.

The AURORA artisan necklace was carefully designed and handmade in a dog friendly, smoke free studio. The necklace will come with two informational drop tags: one with the piece's name; the other lists the materials used in the necklace and the language of the stones and metals. It will be carefully packed in an organza jewelry bag, perfect for gift giving to a loved one . . . or to yourself!
