Frightfully fun, the CALAVERAS handmade sugar skull earrings are perfect for Day of the Dead, Halloween or for any day of the year when you want to wear one of a kind skull jewelry! The unique earrings feature lightweight artisan sugar skull dangles, red coral Czech glass discs, black Swarovski crystals, copper and sterling silver. Starting out as hand cut square shaped copper blanks, the edges were filed and sanded for silky smoothness. A permanent metal transfer was applied and the charms were sealed for years of wearing pleasure. The design is eye-catching: a fierce looking sugar skull with a blue cross and flowers on the forehead, flower eyes, hearts under the grimacing mouth and foliage on both sides of the skull. Two partial skulls and more foliage are scattered around. The background, off white with an aged, vintage look, highlights the design perfectly. Since the skull charms were individually artisan made, they are very similar but are also a bit different. The backside of each charm is smooth, shiny copper which will gradually gain a patina over time. Because the charms are made from copper, the earrings are very lightweight to wear.
Complementing the skull charms wonderfully are red coral Czech glass discs and black Swarovski crystals. Two red discs with a light metallic finish are stacked above each skull charm. To add sparkle, a single faceted jet black Swarovski crystal bicone sits above the discs, separated by a small copper daisy spacer. Sterling silver French hooks with copper bead accents finish the unique earrings. Carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, the one of a kind CALAVERAS earrings are a unique gift for the woman who adores skull jewelry, especially sugar skulls. “Calaveras” is Spanish for “sugar skulls.”
