Looking as if they are an ancient artifact worn long ago, the AVIS handmade earrings will surely be cherished by a bird lover in your life. Filled with wonderful rustic flair, the one of a kind earrings feature artisan bird charms, Czech glass Saturn beads, real turquoise, copper and sterling silver. The rustic, oval bird charms were hand cast from lead free pewter. They were hand painted in various shades of aqua and bronze, each charm similar but also different. For years of wearing pleasure, a professional quality sealant was used. The charms are wonderfully detailed: a raised bird against a smooth background with a rounded sawtooth design along the edges. The slightly textured backs are painted in aged bronze.
Complementing the unique bird charms are Czech glass beads and genuine turquoise. The Czech beads are a Saturn / UFO shape created with light aqua glass. A darker Picasso finish was added to the top and bottom and the middle was faceted for subtle sparkle. Above the glass beads are real turquoise rounds, a bluish-green color with dark matrix. Sterling silver French hook earwires with copper bead accents finish the earrings. Carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, the AVIS earrings are a perfect gift for the woman who is a birder and loves one of a kind artisan jewelry! “Avis” is Latin for “birds.”
