If you are a lover of unique purple gemstone jewelry, the one of a kind MORADO earrings are definitely for you! The beauties feature Mexican purple opal dangles, faceted purple amethyst and purple Swarovski crystals. Found in Central Mexico, morado opals (also known as Mexican purple opals) are known for their wonderful patterns of purple and white melding in subtle combinations. Since purple opals are a “common opal, “ they don’t have the play of color that “precious opals” have. When placed under a shortwave ultraviolet lamp many morado opals glow with a blue to violet fluorescence. The morado opals used in the earrings are absolutely stunning with various shades and swirls of purple against the white, almost like a surrealist painting. To add even more beauty, a line of translucent quartz runs near the bottom of each. Since the purple opal dangles are two sided, they are beautiful from any angle when the earrings are worn.
To perfectly complement the morado opals, purple amethyst and purple Swarovski crystals were used. The amethyst are a rich purple and are faceted in what is called “star cut" triangles that reflect the light at every movement. Two small pewter flower shaped bead caps are found on the top and bottom of the amethyst. To add even more sparkle, faceted Swarovski crystal bicones in a dark “purple velvet” color were added to each sterling silver French hook earwire. Carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, the gorgeous MORADO gemstone earrings were created for the woman who loves wearing hard to find gemstone jewelry in purple and white! “Morado” is Spanish for “purple.”
