Filled with the sacred sound of Om and with two of the seven chakras represented, the AUM handmade earrings are a perfect jewelry gift for the woman who practices yoga, meditates or is a Buddhist. The lightweight, one of a kind earrings features shiny Om dangles, red Czech glass lantern beads and violet Swarovski crystals. The Om symbol is recessed in the middle of rich, glossy copper over pewter round dangles. To give a vintage feel and to highlight the symbol beautifully, the copper was patinated and polished to a high shine, leaving the dark patina in the recessed areas. The backside of the charms are sllightly concave and shiny smooth. Even though the photos don’t show it well, the dangles have an eye-catching, high polish gleam.
Above the Om dangles are found red czech glass beads and violet purple Swarovski crystals. The colors of the beads and the crystals represent two of the chakras: red for the root chakra (Muladhara - “I am”) and violet for the crown chakra (Sahasrara - “I understand”). The red Czech glass beads are a lovely ridged melon shape with a copper wash along with a light silvery metallic wash. Since they are translucent, they glow beautifully when the earrings are worn. Above each melon bead, separated by a copper disc spacer, is a violet purple faceted Swarovski crystal in a rich color called “amethyst.” They sparkle amazingly at even the slightest movement. Sterling silver French hooks with copper ebad accents finish the meaningful earrings. The Meaning of Om: 'Om,' 'Ohm' or 'Aum' is a sacred sound that is believed to be the sound of the universe. Om is all encompassing, representing the divine in each of us, the essence of ultimate reality and unifying everything in the universe. It is a syllable that is chanted either independently or before a mantra in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.
Chakras: In Sanskrit, the word “chakra” means “disk” or “wheel,” referring to the energy centers in your body. Each of the seven main chakras that run along your spine. They start at the root, or base, of your spine and extend to the crown of your head. People believe that to function at their best, the chakras need to stay balanced. If they get blocked, physical or emotional symptoms related to a particular chakra may be experienced.
The Aum or Om symbol represents the divine in each of us as well as our interconnectivity with the universe. The root chakra, or Muladhara, is said to provide you with a base or foundation for life, helping you feel grounded and able to withstand challenges. The crown chakra, or Sahasrara, represents your spiritual connection to yourself, others, and the universe, playing a role in your life’s purpose. Even though man made, glass and crystals carry the energies of transformation, rebirth and communication. Pewter is believed to be very grounding, bringing the wearer back to reality. Copper allows the wearer to recognize barriers in the path of personal development.
