Ghoulish, spooky fun will be had each and every time you wear the handmade TURQUOISE JACK O’ LANTERNS earrings to work, to lunch with friends and to those all important Halloween parties! The smiling-inducing earrings feature two-sided permanently dyed turquoise magnesite pumpkins with cut out eyes, noses and mouths for extra eye appeal. A greenish brown finish was added to enhance the detail of the carving. Since the earrings are two sided, they are lovely from every angle.
Topping the jack o’ lanterns are shiny black onyx gemstone rounds, separated from the pumpkins by sterling silver daisy spacers. Sterling silver French hook earwires finish the joyous earrings perfectly. Created for the woman who loves unique Halloween jewelry, the TURQUOISE JACK O’ LANTERNS earrings were carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs.
+++ Please note: because I used a close up lens to photograph these fun Halloween earrings, you can easily see the sterling silver headpins used to connect the pumpkins to the earwires. When the earrings are worn, the silver is barely noticeable.

The practice of decorating jack o’ lanterns originated in Ireland, the name taken from a folktale about a man named Stingy Jack. Large turnips and potatoes served as the first jack o’ lanterns. Irish immigrants brought the tradition to America where pumpkins were in abundance, and the carving of jack o’ lanterns became an integral part of Halloween festivities.
Magnesite is said to help turn dreams into realities and instills peace during meditation. Black Onyx is believed to be a powerful protective stone and is used as a defense against negative thinking; it is said to bring balance to mind and body and helps the wearer approach a task with greater self confidence. Silver is a metal of love and healing; it is a mirror to the soul, helping us to see ourselves as others see us.
