Through centuries, the moon has been associated with the Virgin Mary, representing her power, protection and divine favor, often depicted in conjunction with crosses. Filled with meaningful Christian symbolism, the handmade MOON CROSSES earrings are a perfect gift for the woman who loves unique cross jewelry. The one of a kind earrings feature artisan cross charms with moons, purple lampwork beads, aqua rondelles, Swarovski crystals and sterling silver. Artisan designed and hand cast from lead free pewter, the crosses with moons dangles have a rustic vibe. From top to bottom, three phases of the moon are represented: a waxing moon, a full moon and a waning moon. The background was given a dark patina and the raised moons are polished to a high gloss. An engraved maker's mark is found on the back side of the crosses.

Above the cross charms are lampwork glass beads, aqua glass rondelles and Swarovski crystals. The lampwork beads were individually artisan made from translucent dark purple glass in a ridged flying saucer shape, each a bit different from the other. Above them are faceted aqua Czech glass rondelles, also translucent. Both sets of glass beads glow beautifully when the earrings are worn. Swarovski crystals in a color shifting finish called “medium vitrail” (be sure to look at all the photos) cap the top of the aqua beads and are also found as accents on the sterling silver French hook earwires. Pewter is said to be very grounding, bringing the wearer back to reality. Even though man made, crystals and glass carry the energies of transformation, rebirth and communication.
