If you have ever seen a brilliant blue morpho butterfly fluttering through tropical rainforest foliage, you will never forget the breathtaking beauty of it. And the PRECIOSAS MARIPOSAS handmade earrings are breathtaking as well! Perfect jewelry for the butterfly lover, the one of a kind earrings feature artisan butterflies on vintage-look flowers and two colors of frosted Czech glass discs. Looking as if they are well-loved vintage jewelry pieces, the butterfly charms are faux vintage, having been individually created from modern copper. A permanent metal transfer was applied and then the charms were sealed for years of wearing pleasure. The beautiful black and blue butterflies are representative of a real tropical species, Blue Banded Morpho butterflies (Morpho achilles), basking in the sunlight with wings open on faded light beige flowers. Since the butterfly charms are individually artisan made, they are very similar but are also a bit different. The backside of each charm is smooth, shiny copper which will gradually gain a patina over time. Because the charms are made from copper, the earrings are very lightweight to wear.
Perfectly highlighting the band of blue in the wings of the butterflies are two colors of Czech glass discs: a rich Caribbean blue and a light sky blue. Since the discs are frosted like sea glass, they radiate blue goodness when the earrings are worn. Separating each disc and capping the top and bottom of the stack are thin copper spacers in the shape of a five petaled flower. Each sterling silver French hook earwires sports a copper bicone bead for added beauty. Carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, the PRECIOSAS MARIPOSAS earrings are a special gift for the woman who loves butterflies and also loves wearing one of a kind artisan jewelry. “Preciosas mariposas” is Spanish for “lovely butterflies.”
