Filled with ghoulish Halloween and Day of the Dead fun, the handmade CALAVERAS AZULES earrings are perfect for spooky celebrations . . . or for any time you feel the need to wear trendy skull jewelry! The unique earrings feature two-sided sky blue silk sugar skull beads and Czech and Swarovski crystals. Created in the Czech Republic, the skull beads have a base of sky blue glass with a silk finish. A rustic sugar skull design with a huge grin, floral eyes and an upside down triangle nose was pressed into both sides. Bringing out the details and adding an aged look, a metallic gold Picasso wash was added, settling into the recessed areas. As you can see in the photos, the skulls are a bit different on each side. Since the sugar skulls are two-sided, the earrings look fabulous from any angle when worn.

All Halloween / Day of the Dead sugar skulls need sparkle so two types and colors of faceted crystals were used. Just above the sugar skulls, resembling a crown, are copper rondelles set with seven clear Czech crystals. Adding even more glitter, a faceted 6 mm Swarovski crystal bicone in jet black is snuggled into the top of each rondelle. The jet crystals have an aurora borealis finish on 1/2 of the facets, adding color shifting beauty. Sterling silver French hook earwires with copper bead accents are a perfect finish. The CALAVERAS AZULES earrings were carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs for the woman who wants to add fun Halloween and Day of the Dead earrings to her unique skull jewelry collection. “Calaveras azules” is Spanish for “blue skulls.”
