Sweet, petite and lightweight, the beauties feature vintage intaglio crystal cross drops and Swarovski crystals. The SAPPHIRE blue intaglio crosses were created in Germany in the 1950’s and are a rare find. Intaglio refers to a design engraved into a material - in this case a single cross hand engraved into each octagon-shaped German crystal. The vintage crosses were hand gilded with gold to make them pop against the rich sapphire blue color of the glass. A round, glittering light turquoise blueSwarovski crystal sits above each cross, both crystals securely set in a brass mounting. Sparkling with each movement of the head, the sapphire crystals also do a bit of color shade shifting depending on the angle of the light, from a lighter blue to a darker blue, as you can see in the photos. The back of the crystal dangles is smooth brass.
To add even more sparkle to the overall design, a faceted Swarovski crystal bicone is found above each cross dangle. The color is “sapphire blue” to match the color of the crystal crosses. Sterling silver French hook ear wires with copper bead accents finish the eye-catching earrings.
