Tree of Life Handmade Necklace, Aquamarine Labradorite Gemstone Art Statement Jewelry

Item Description

So much beauty and power can be felt in a Tree of Life symbol.  Throughout the history of humankind, trees have been a source of reverence, a metaphor for the joining of the heavens with the underworld through the Earth.  They represent strength and perseverance.  The mystical looking LAIDIR CRAOBH (Scots Gaelic for “strong tree”) necklace was created with all that in mind - a wearable piece of art.  The focal of the unique statement necklace is a magnificent handmade polymer clay Tree of Life pendant, a one of a kind design that is signed on the back by the artist, Michele of Gabriel.  She transferred an original tree drawing of two trees twisted together for an eternity onto a slightly domed, not perfectly round polymer clay base.  The pendant was then sculpted, textured and hand painted in colors of black, light amber, pale sky blue and gray and given a matte sealant finish.  The matte finish gives the pendant a weathered, aged look, almost like the trees could walk out of an ancient mist.  A rustically wire wrapped sterling silver bail that resembles the twisted trunks of the trees connects the pendant to the main body of the necklace.

To perfectly highlight the Tree of Life pendant, two types of gemstones were used:  aquamarine and labradorite.  The round aquamarine is a cooling pale blue color with swirls of darker and lighter shades.  The peaceful looking gemstones are graduated in size, the larger in front and the smaller in the back.  The first five aquamarine rounds are separated from each other by small sterling silver beds and labradorite teardrops.  Labradorite is normally a gray gemstone that shows a breathtaking, iridescent flash of colors depending on the angle of the light.  Each teardrop shows that flash, some blue, some more greenish and some golden.  Unfortunately, the photos show no flash, but, believe me, they are there. The necklace is finished with a beautifully patterned sterling silver toggle clasp set.  Carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, the LAIDIR CRAOBH necklace says loud and clear that you love one of a kind, artisan jewelry.

Since ancient days, trees have always been a symbol of strength and perseverance and of joining the heavens with the underworld. Aquamarine is said to release anxiety, fear and restlessness, creating a peaceful stillness like the flow of a forest stream.  Labradorite is said to help stimulate the imagination and enhance intuition.  Silver is a metal of love and healing; it is a mirror to the soul, helping us to see ourselves as others see us.

The LAIDIR CRAOBH Tree of Life  handmade necklace was carefully designed and handmade in a dog friendly, smoke free studio.  The necklace will come with two informational drop tags: one with the piece's name; the other lists the materials used in the necklace and the language of the stones and metals. It will be carefully packed in an organza jewelry bag, perfect for gift giving to a loved one . . . or to yourself!
