Surreal Flower Boho Earrings Mokume Gane Polymer Clay Handmade Jewelry

Item Description

What a perfect gift for the woman who loves to wear surreal artisan boho jewelry that’s more than a little on the wild side!  The colorful WILD THING earrings feature artisan lightweight polymer clay floral shield dangles, artisan purple lampwork glass beads and frosted aqua Czech glass discs.  The one of a kind shield shaped dangles with a hole at the top were handmade from polymer clay using the mokume gane technique.  First developed in the 17th century, mokume gane is a traditional Japanese mixed-metal laminate metalworking procedure that forms distinctive layered patterns.  Now, polymer clay artists have adapted the time-consuming technique to create intricate, eye-catching designs.  As you can see in the photos, the dangles have a surreal floral design in purples, aquas, light green, peach, black and white against a rich terracotta background.  What a riot of funky flowers and fun colors!  The back of the dangles are smooth in the terracotta color.  A glossy sealer was applied to both the front and the back for protection, providing many years of wearing pleasure.  Since the shield-shaped dangles were individually artisan made, they are similar in design but are also different.
To perfectly complement colors found in the polymer clay floral dangles, purple lampwork beads, teal Czech glass discs and copper bicone beads were stacked on top of the wire wrapped shields, separated from each by a copper disc spacer.  The purple lampwork beads were also artisan made and are a fun flying saucer shape.  Since they were made with translucent glass, they glow when the earrings are worn. The rich teal colored Czech glass discs have a silky smooth frosted glass finish.  They are also translucent and glow in the light.   A copper bicone finishes the top.  Sterling silver French hook earwires with copper bicone accents finish the unique earrings.  Carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, the lightweight-to-wear WILD THING earrings were created for the woman who loves eye-catching, boho inspired jewelry that will definitely become conversation starters!

Through the centuries, flowers have been a symbol of spiritual awakening; also they have been symbols of generosity and love when they are given away.  Even though man made, glass is said to carry the energies of transformation, rebirth and communication.  Copper is believed to allow the wearer to recognize barriers in the path of personal development. Silver is a metal of love and healing; it is a mirror to the soul, helping us to see ourselves as others see us.

The WILD THING artisan polymer clay floral and lampwork glass earrings were carefully designed and handmade in a dog friendly, smoke free studio. They will be carefully packed in an organza jewelry bag with tissue, perfect for gift giving to a loved one . . . or to yourself!
