Southwest Cross Necklace, Onyx Snowflake Obsidian Handmade Jewelry

Beautiful in it’s classic silver and black simplicity, the LA CROCE handmade cross necklace will quickly become a favorite piece of jewelry to wear. A perfect gift for the woman who loves crosses, the one of a kind necklace features a pewter Southwest style cross, black onyx and snowflake obsidian gemstones and sterling silver. The somewhat rustic cross was created from lead free pewter and has a gorgeous old heirloom silver glow to it. The arms of the cross are equal in length, called a Greek cross. Adding wonderful texture, the center of the cross is raised with a diamond shaped pewter insert that has a slightly matte finish. The cross itself has an etched Southwest design that has been patinated to bring out the beauty: a cross / starburst design around the insert and lines at each corner of the cross’ arms. The back of the cross is textured and has depression in the middle with two raised areas at the top and bottom of the depression. Two heavy duty sterling silver jump rings securely fasten the Southwest cross to the main body of the necklace. *** Please note: The pewter cross is highly reflective - many photos of the cross show a slight yellowish tinge due to it picking up the color of my t-shirt. The cross itself is a glowing silver.
To perfectly complement the Southwest style cross, shiny black onyx ovals and snowflake obsidian rounds were used. The black onyx ovals have a slight twist to them which captures and reflects the light at each movement - very eye catching! In between the first eight twisted onyx ovals are snowflake obsidian rounds. Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed in swiftly cooling lava. Snowflake obsidian gets its name when cristobalite (a form of quartz) crystallizes as the obsidian cools, forming grayish white “snowflake” designs. At the back of the necklace are groups of three black onyx twists separated by snowflake obsidian. A small sterling silver bead separated each gemstone from its neighbor. A sleek sterling silver toggle clasp finishes the cross necklace beautifully.
