Running Horse Petroglyph Necklace, Brown Amazonite Shell Ceramic Southwest Handmade Jewelry
Evoking the other worldliness of the Desert Southwest and the haunting beauty of ancient petroglyphs, the RUNNING FREE handmade horse pendant necklace is a whimsical, timeless beauty. The focal of the one of a kind horse necklace is an amazing artisan created ceramic pendant with a running horse against an aged slate grey “rock face.” The horse is etched into the pendant for a textural 3-D effect and was hand painted in a rich brown with a black mane and tail. The pendant was glazed and then fired many times for a depth of color and for strength. It is is signed on the back by the artist. A lead free pewter bail connects the pendant to the main body of the necklace.
Because brown amazonite contains swirling patterns that resemble many of the rock formations and hoodoos in the Desert Southwest, ten amazonite puffed rectangles were used to mimic the rocks. Each gemstone is a miniature masterpiece of Mother Nature with colors ranging from pale beige through rusty browns, bits of pale blue-green and black. As an added bonus, a few of the rectangles have small druzy crystal inclusions. Separating the brown amazonite rectangles are pale orangey-beige shell heishe and rich reddish brown Czech glass beads. Small sterling silver beads separate each different element from its neighbor. A twisted rope design sterling silver toggle clasp set finishes the necklace perfectly. Carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, the RUNNING FREE handmade horse pendant necklace was created for the woman who loves horse, loves the Southwest and/or loves unique, artisan jewelry.
