Phoenix Thunderbird Earrings Totem Bird Aqua Copper Handmade Jewelry
Item Description
The unique PHOENIX RISING handmade earrings is a meaningful gift for the woman who loves age-old symbolism and wearing one of a kind jewelry. The earrings feature Southwest totem thunderbird-inspired / phoenix rising copper charms in a shield shape. Small turquoise seed beads and artisan translucent aqua lampwork glass beads complement the charms beautifully. The phoenix / thunderbird dangles were artisan handmade from pure copper. An imprinted design of the very detailed totem brid was pressed into the clay. The thunderbird is looking to the left, has spread wings, upraised feathers on its head and an oval design on the torso. The charms were lightly patinated and then polished to bring out the beauty of the recessed phoenix design. Since the charms were individually made, you can see that one charm has a bit darker patina around the edges of the design than the other - very similar but not exactly the same. Slightly concave, the back side of each dangle is also patinated. An arched line of small turquoise seed beads decorate the top part of the charms.
The glowing aqua lampwork beads found above the phoenix charms are also individually artisan made. They were made from aqua glass with streaks of green here and there. As you can see in photo #2, the glass beads absolutely glow in the light. A swirled ridged design adds extra eye appeal. The earrings were finished by wire wrapping with 2 strands of copper wire and then connecting the body of the earrings to sterling silver French hook earwires. The sterling earwires are accented with small copper beads. The symbolism of the phoenix can be traced back to early Egyptians and was common the world over as a symbol of rebirth, rising from the ashes of its predecessor. Native Americans believed the phoenix (or thunderbird) protected people from evil spirits, was a caller of rain and symbolized unlimited happiness. Even though man made, glass is said to carry the energies of transformation, rebirth and communication. Copper is used to allow the wearer to recognize barriers in the path of personal development. Silver is a metal of love and healing; it is a mirror to the soul, helping us to see ourselves as others see us.
