Frida Kahlo Earrings, Faux Vintage Copper Turquoise Handmade Jewelry

If you are a fan of the vibrant, world famous Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo, you will absolutely love the appropriately named FRIDA ENCANTADA handmade earrings! The boho art earrings feature artisan made faux vintage copper Frida dangles, real turquoise and sterling silver. The unique Kahlo trapezoid shaped charms look as if they were cut from old cookie or tea tins. But they only mimic rustic vintage tins since they were individually artisan hand cut, filed and sanded from modern copper. A permanent metal transfer was applied and then sealed. The picture of Frida is an iconic self portrait, although it is a mirror image of the original. A black cat sits on her right shoulder, her pet monkey on her left shoulder, white butterflies are in her hair and she is wearing a thorn necklace to represent the hard life she lived. Since the dangles were individually handmade, there are slight differences which add wonderful rustic vibes. The back of each dangle is smooth, shiny copper which will gradually gain a patina over time. Since the charms are made from copper, the earrings are very lightweight to wear.
Because the Frida Kahlo charms are gorgeous in their own right, simple complements were all that was needed to complete the earrings. Genuine turquoise gemstone rondelles with a greenish cast were chosen to mimic the foliage behind Frida. Two turquoise rounds are stacked above the dangles, separated by patinated copper discs. A single turquoise trounds was wire wrapped to hang below the earrings, adding wonderful movement. Sterling silver earwires with copper bead accents complete the fun earrings. Carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, the FRIDA ENCANTADA earrings are a perfect gift for the woman who adores the magical realist art and intriguing life of the famous artist and loves to wear one of a kind artisan jewelry. “Frida encantada” is Spanish for “enchanted Frida.”
