The meaningful LOVE THE EARTH handmade necklace is a perfect jewelry gift for the Christian woman who loves our Mother Earth and is concerned about the rampant degradation of the environment. The one of a kind necklace features a unique pewter earth cross covered with raised symbols of life, star cut blue sodalite gemstones, light blue Czech glass spacers and sterling silver. Hand cast in the U.S. from high quality, lead free pewter, the cross is covered with detailed symbolism, all things that help support life on earth. From top to bottom is the sun, a dove of peace, the ichthys (an important Christian fish symbol) and a flower. On the crossbar, at either side of the bird, are sheaves of wheat. Stylized corn plants can be found at the end of each crossbar and at the bottom of the cross. The symbols are raised against an oxidized background, creating wonderful texture. The cross glows like heirloom sterling silver, much prettier in real life than in the photos. The back of the cross is smooth and unoxidized. For extra security, the cross is attached to the main body of the necklace with two heavy gauge jump rings..
Representing the ocean and the sky are blue sodalite gemstones (ocean) and light blue Czech glass spacers (sky). Sodalite is known for its shades of rich blue color, ranging from dark blue to a pale blue, and usually contains white veins or streaking. The sodalite used in the necklace is faceted in what is called a star cut, eye-catching sparkle as the angle of the light changes. To represent the Holy Trinity, the sodalite is grouped in threes. The groups are separated by small light blue Czech glass spacer beads and small sterling silver beads. A dotted sterling silver hook clasp set finishes the gorgeous necklace.
