The whimsical, one of a kind necklace features an artisan copper dog bone pendant and earthy faceted mookaite jasper ovals. The rustically beautiful pendant was created from copper sheeting with brass accents, A raised repousse dog bone design with three brass dots is found in the middle of the rectangular pendant. Highlighting the bone design perfectly is a brass frame with a dot in each corner. To produce the rich color of the copper, a patination technique was used involving a “secret” formula and a torch. A metal lacquer was used to seal the pendant to keep the color brand new looking for many years to come. The back of the pendant is also patinated and sealed.
Earthy mookaite jasper ovals and small copper beads make up the main body of the necklace. Mookaite jasper is a fabulous gemstone found only on the west side of the Kennedy Range in Western Australia. The colors can range from deep brick reds, mellow yellows, tans, browns and even pinks and mauves, several colors often happening on the same bead. Since the mookaite jasper is faceted, a subtle sparkle emanates from the necklace when worn. Each mookaite oval is separated by a small copper bead. A copper toggle clasp set securely finishes the necklace. Carefully designed and handmade by Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs, the DOG LOVE necklace is a perfect jewelry gift for the woman who loves to wear artisan dog themed jewelry . . . and who adores her own four-footed companion(s).
